Slovakia
II Highlights
Sunday morning after our arrival, we ministered in Pastor
Jan Tagaj’s church in Sered, Slovakia.
It was a wonderful time of ministry and fellowship as Kurt preached on
“God Sees the Heart”. Marla led
worship in English and Slovak. Near
the end of the service, some began to weep as the presence of God rested heavily
upon us. Later that afternoon, we
were transported to a medium security prison, where we held an
evangelistic concert. Marla sang
several songs, and the prisoners were enthusiastic! In fact, they kept asking
for more music! Kurt gave
a bold appeal for the prisoners to
accept Christ – and around 100 prisoners came forward!
Several men said they did not previously believe in God but had felt the real
presence of God for the first time that day. Glory to God!
Tuesday night we
ministered at Vitaztvo (Victory) Methodist Church of Trnava, Slovakia.
Kurt’s exhortive message, "How to Fulfill Your Destiny" was very
powerful, and the packed-out church was very encouraged.
Marla sang several songs in English and Slovak, and shared some of her
testimony. During the time of
ministry at the end, many came to the altar for prayer as Marla led the
congregation in Slovak worship.
Valentine’s
Day: Orphanage Ministry
The next day we traveled to the Sered Orphanage
for a very special and touching time of sharing God’s Fatherly love. Since it was Valentine’s Day, we had a special opportunity to share
about the Love of God. We explained that God loves them so much, He sent us
all the way from the USA to give them a Valentine from God! That Valentine is Jesus Christ – the ultimate expression of
God’s love for them. We
felt such a bond with those kids, and were able to pray a prayer of salvation
with all of them at the end. Our
ministry also purchased some children’s books for them in Slovak about
Jesus.
.
That night, during our Healing Service at the
church of Jan Tagaj in Sered, the Holy Spirit moved mightily! We began by
worshipping God in English and Slovak as Marla led us into the presence of the
Lord. Then a prophesy came forth,
and the Lord convicted us that we had unbelief in our lives, and we needed to
repent. Later, Kurt and Jan prayed for many people who came forward for healing. One
lady in particular was totally healed
of chronic, serious back pain! Glory to God!
The next day in our busy
schedule, we moved on to Senec, Slovakia to do an evangelistic concert at the
church of Mark Bruner, an American missionary.
The church was packed. At least 5
people were saved, and one filled with the Holy Spirit. The Lord is doing a
great work through this Pastor who has a vision for a Christian radio station in
Slovakia.
We went straight from there to RadioForte,
a large secular radio station in Trnava, where we did a one hour radio interview
and they played Marla’s music. We were pleased to find out that this station
has been playing
Marla’s music during this weekly radio show ever since we visited last time
(about a year and a half ago.) We
could feel God’s tangible anointing as we shared the gospel. This radio
station reaches up to one million people, and many Christians and
non-Christians
alike listen to this show.
On Friday night we were given the privilege of giving
a concert in the Jesuit church of Trnava. The response was very
positive! We had the opportunity to
pray for several people afterwards. Saturday night was “Fire Night," a time of fun and
fellowship! Kurt preached on fighting the devil,
and Marla sang several songs.
Slovakia is part of the former Czechoslovakia, which
was formerly a Soviet Bloc country. Since
the doors have opened for the gospel, many Slovak churches are working hard to
evangelize their nation. It is our
vision to continue to encourage and strengthen the Church in
Slovakia. Below is a letter we received from Pastor Jan Tagaj after our
outreach.

We
all send you many greetings and we're still talking about your ministry in Slovakia. You've been a great encouragement to us.
You are special people to us and to all of Slovakia because of your attitudes, love and understanding. We could tell that you came
to Slovakia to serve and share God's love from your heart
through preaching and singing.
During your services God was
touching people's hearts. He was bringing them closer to
Himself.
The lady at the Wednesday evening healing service that Kurt prayed for was totally cured. That same evening God
spoke to us that we are limiting Him and His power in our lives.
Then we repented and after two weeks
we can
see a difference:
People in our church are more hungry for God, they want more
of Him, young people are more
active, and I believe that this is just the beginning of revival in
Slovakia. In 2001 we would like to have several more outreach meetings
and see changes in the lives of many other people by the great message about Jesus Christ.
We'd like to ask you for
prayer for our
church and other churches in this area, and for
wisdom and understanding of how can we reach people in Slovakia. Please pray
for
revival, too. In our country many of our youth are on drugs and alcohol and they
are
tempted by many many other things. Only God has the power to set them free.
Help
us with prayers and at the end we would like to tell you BIG THANKS.
May
God Forever Bless You,
Your dear friend Ján Tagaj
