Quebec Outreach I

Johnson Outreach Ministries ministered at Victory Bible Camp in Quebec, Canada in July!  It was an awesome time of worship, preaching, and fun – and it was totally filled with the power of God! 

Victory Bible Camp’s vision is maintained by its founders and directors, Pastors Steve and Esther Roach from Laval, Quebec.  They have created a camp where children from Quebec and eastern Canada can come to have fun while experiencing more of God at the same time. 

We ministered at the evening services for two separate camps, ages 11-15 and ages 16 and up.  Kurt was the guest speaker and evangelist for the sessions, and Marla ministered with special music, psalmistry, and also did some speaking.  Pastor Roach’s desire is to see the Spirit of God move freely in his camp, because he knows that it is only by God’s power that lives can be radically transformed.  God did awesome things, and the power of the Holy Spirit was incredible.

 Here are some highlights:

n      Many new salvations.  At the younger teen’s camp, over 90% left having trusted in Christ as their Savior, and made a firm commitment to serve Him the rest of their lives.

n      Strengthening of old commitments.  These teens left camp completely on fire for God, determined to obey God and receive His best plan for their lives.  Many couldn’t wait to go home and tell their friends about the love of Jesus Christ.

n      Baptisms in the Holy Spirit.  Several young people (and at least one adult) received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a result of their hunger for more of God.

n      Healing.  One documented, undeniable, glorious healing took place at camp!  A young man had injured himself at camp and was diagnosed with several torn knee ligaments at the local hospital.  The entire right leg up to the knee was swollen and very tender.  He could not bear any weight on the leg without extreme pain, so he walked with crutches.  He could bend the knee very little because of the pain and the swelling…. But the next night, during an awesome move of God, he was healed!  By the end of the service he was walking without crutches. He was jumping with joy and praise.  He was bending the knee to full flexion.  He was even running without a limp!  Glory to God!

n      Lives Changed.  It was so exciting and humbling to see so many children who left the camps dramatically changed!  Personalities that had seldom seen the light of day surfaced from beneath depression and fear!  The love and power of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ made a difference in these kids’ lives!

The last night of the young teens’ camp was especially unforgettable.  God had told us to pour one last dose of love into the kids’ lives.  We had a “blessing ceremony” in which every kid got a hug from all of the counselors (of the same gender).  At the end of this “row of hugs” we prayed a blessing over each child’s life.  God moved in an incredibly powerful way.  Many of the kids were crying by the time they reached the end of the line to receive the blessing.  We spoke God’s words of encouragement and hope into their lives, and broke the power of all negative words that had been spoken over them.  Despair melted away, and many of the teens wept openly and violently.  At the end of the blessing, they got one last hug.  Many fell out under the power of God.  Others simply would not let go of the embrace, so great was their hunger.  Before all the kids could make it through the line, the presence of the Holy Spirit was so strong that it felt as if the tent we were in had been transformed into heaven.  Children lay on the ground for over an hour – weeping, crying out for more of God, and being ministered to by the Holy Spirit.  We may never know all the glorious things that God did that night until we get to heaven.  It was truly an awesome experience!

Already we have received letters from children at the camp speaking of how God blessed them.   Here are a few samples of what they had to say:

 “I think it was so cool the way God moved at camp.  I’ve been a Christian ever since I can remember… but I really accepted Christ into my heart at camp!  I’ve seen God move strongly before, but I was just a watcher.  But this year I wanted a taste of God and I sure got one!”

 “Je ne vais jamais laiser Dieu…Vous alez beaucoup me manquer et je ne vous oublirer jamais.”

       [I will never leave God… I will miss you both a lot and I will never forget you.]

 “Vous avez… touché nos couers.  Vous prenez même le temps pour répondre à nos questions et on l’apprécie beaucoup.  Nous voulons aussi vous dire que nous vous aimons nous aussi.  Vous êtes des personnes fantastiques et surtout, continuer votre merveilleux travail.”

       [You have touched our hearts.  You even took the time to respond to our questions and we appreciate it a lot.  We would also like to tell you that we love you, too.  You are fantastic people and above all, continue in your marvelous work.]

Praise God!  Please continue to pray for Quebec.  The need is truly great.
